[comp.sys.ibm.pc.hardware] Co-Processor Chips...

Now that the price of Math Co-Processors have come down, I am wondering if
they make a 287 to run on a 286-16MHz board. I have looked before, but the
fastest I've found is 12Mhz. If there is one, please let me know who carries
them, and what they are running for.

Thanks

ELKCO has a *NEW* 82S87-20 for $85. This is made by Cyrix and I figure that
it is a product that has just come out. They might make a -16, but it is
not listed in the ad.

Besides I thought that '287 chips ran at 2/3 the speed of the '286 that
was connected. If this is true then a 12Mhz would do just fine. Of
course this is probably board dependent.

BTW, ELKCO's number is 1-800-24-ELKCO (243-5526). If you need anything
more than the number look for my post on street prices for '387s.

owls eat mice, and thus make a certain number of cats unnecessary, which
