[Living sacrifice to assuage the gods of first lines . . .] This summer -- from mid-July through mid-August -- our family is trying a monumental trek around the USA. The family consists of the two parents and six children, ranging in age from 7 through 17. We are traveling by van and travel trailer from the SF BAY area, across the southern part of the country to SC for an extended stay visiting old friends and relatives, with a few one day stops along the way. Most traveling days will be about twelve hours of actual travel, so we -- both kids and drivers -- will want to make the most of the rest days. We have reservations at all the trailer parks at which we are staying, but would appreciate other tips, especially for the full day stops, which include: Tombstone, AZ (half day) San Antonio, TX New Orleans, LA Washington, DC (two days) Cheyenne, WY (evening only, but on my birthday!) Salt Lake City, UT Hot topics include where our group would find a good place to eat, what is worth touring and what is not. I have saved the previous month's discussions of San Antonio and SLC, but hints which are more specific to our family would still be welcome. We have already decided against the World's Fair, mostly because of cost. FROM: Brian G.
