I have been trying to program a Metrabyte MSTEP5 stepper motor control card using Microsoft QuickBasic 4.0, but have had a problem with getting the driver, MSTEP.BIN, to listen to the BASIC correctly. I believe that the problem lies in the fact that QB 4 passes real values in an IEEE format, while the driver expects it to be in Microsoft Binary Format. While this can be gotten around with difficulty by using a BASIC conversion routine, a more elegant solution would be to rewrite the driver program to suit. What I would like to know is, has anyone confronted this problem before, and if so, does anyone have a modified version of the driver routine? Any hints or suggestions emailed to the address below would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ian Gentle Internet IGENTLE@RSC0.anu.oz.au Research School of Chemistry Australian National University This space available for witty Canberra ACT comment! --------------------------------------------------------------------------
