I'm looking for a nice, relaxing place to spend a long weekend. We're thinking of going to New Hampshire since my fiance has never been there. I'd like to stay up north--far away from the crowds I remember in North Conway. But I would like to be within reasonable traveling distance of the White Mountains for hiking. I would like to stay in an old inn or a bread and breakfast. I don't require luxury accomdations, just a cozy, comfortable place to rest after a long day of hiking. One area I am interested in is Dixville Notch since it's close to the part of Vermont that my family used to vacation in. The area holds a lot of sentimental value. Also, is September a good time? Are the crowds gone? Is the weather nice? While you're at it you can suggest some quaint restaurants, shops, whatever. If I get enough responses I'll post a summary to the net. Sharon Badian
