[comp.os.msdos.programmer] SIGALRM in dos with pharlap extenders

kaplan@unamas.esd.sgi.com (Larry Kaplan) (09/12/90)

We are trying to recreate the UNIX signal SIGALRM on a
pc running dos. We have the Metaware High-C compiler and
are using the Pharlap linker to get memory extensions.

What we need is to interrupt a running program after a
specified interval. i.e., set timer to N seconds, start
program, signal interrupts program after N seconds.

Is there a way to do this in our environment. High-C
says that you can't chain interrupt handlers in protected
mode. If anyone knows a utility or routine that uses the
timer in protected mode, please e-mail or post.

Thanks.
