Does any one know of a good C compiler which runs on an IBM-PC and generates Intel 8051 microcontroller code. I would like an inexpensive or even public domain one if possible. Also, if there are commercial ones available, please recommend. This is a personal purchase item so $$$ are important. This is NOT a recommendation, just a pointer, I've only got as far as requesting the bumph myself! Keil Computers GmBH produce an 8051 toolset which looks good on paper. KEIL C51 - ANSI C compiler written for 8051 DScope51 - 8051 CPU Simulator and High-level Debugger (demo disk available) A51 Asm - Macro assembler The UK price is about 500 pounds for the compiler, the blurb makes it sound wonderful (surprise!), surely it can't all be lies ?? It may also be posted to the comp.binaries.ibm.pc group later this year (?). This is a FREEWARE C cross-compiler WITH full source code. It has been implemented for various processors, possibly including the 8051. If not, then it is fairly easy to add. Both the software and the author are available on BIX. -- ___Mark S.
