[comp.os.msdos.programmer] CMOS/MEM/KEYB detection question

bernards@ecn.nl (Marcel Bernards) (09/20/90)

Hi,

I'm posting this for a collegue.

He's busy wit some kind of installation tool and because of this
he wants to detect some things like:

Extended memory (especially the stuff below 1 MB) detection
Expanded memory
keyboard type (GENERIC PC , XT , AT KBDLK)
CPU type ( 86, 88, [1234]86)
CoPro (87, [1234]87 Weitek, others)
display adapter (CGA EGA VGA others)

We really appreciate more info about these subjects, preferably
some C Source examples.

The CMOSER ROM and VIEWCMOS programs from comp.binaries.ibm.pc
explained a lot of details of PC-CMOS RAM but not everything is
clear.

Please E-mail to bernards@ecn.nl or to my collegue seignette@ecn.nl

Thanx,
