I've seen several programs that disable a hard disk unless the system is booted from that hard disk. (PCLOCK, the Protec security system, etc). I believe that this may be done by changing the HD's media byte or other data necessary for adding the drive to the device chain, but not checked at pre-boot time. Does anyone have conformation of this or know of a source of a simple PD program (for analysis) that does this? Thanks in advance!
