[comp.os.msdos.programmer] Help, need 802.2 interface info.

The answer depends on WHICH vendor's LLC interface and which
Token Ring chipset you are using. The IBM interfaces for the
IBM chips are available only from IBM....although Madge has
claimed to duplicate the IBM interfaces for the T.I. Chipset.

Most other vendors use the Sytek based LLC which is supported on
the Texas Instruments chipset. The Proteon and 3Com cards use
the same LLC as most other T.I. users.

Texas Instruments has documentation on both the MAC layer and
the LLC layer, including the formats of the initialization
blocks, etc. There are two versions of this, the older version
is two separate books.... one for the Chipset itself and the MAC
layer, the other for their LLC option. The newer manual for
the Eagle chipset (TMS380C16) includes info for both MAC and LLC
layers. Contact your local TI sales office or any T.I.
distributor for price and availability....

I have heard that Western Digital also has a T/R chipset, may
want to contact them......

Many years ago now, I had the manuals for the TI Token Ring
chip set. I remember that the information was very comprehensive.
