My spouse and I are planning a trip in late August to Niagara Falls, then plan to drive up through Canada (Toronto, Montreal) and down through Maine, NH, Mass, and back to NJ. Anyone have any recommendations for lodging (motels, hotels, country inns) along this route? I am aware of country inns in New England, but don't have any info on Canada or Niagara. I assume we should probably chart our course ahead of time and make reservations accordingly, but it would be easier to just go along and stop when we feel like it. (But I have a suspicion that in August, we may find every place booked for the night.) Another question: what is involved in driving into Canada and then driving back into the USA? Should we bring our passports? (My spouse is a permanent resident, but not yet a citizen of the US.) What kind of border patrol should we expect? (We don't anticipate carrying anything illegal into or out of Canada.) Any help you can give me on these concerns will be greatly appreciated. Thanks. homxa!shorty AT&T CP, Holmdel, NJ P.S. I should mention that we plan to spend only a week vacationing.
