[net.travel] Couples

My wife and I were at Couples about 3 years ago. The area
is very scenic and I would recommend it. We have also been
to several Club Meds and	it is similar but smaller. Unlike
other resorts, everything is included, even drinks. The
buss boys are very attentive and	even collect your drinks on
the beach. The resort is fairtly small but everything is
centrally located. Of course there is the beach, and
sailing,	and wind surfing. There is also a nude	island
about 200 yards off shore. A small boat	provides a taxi
service. There is also horse backriding	over a small trail
in the woods. I	would recommend	side trips to the
waterfall. You walk up the falls and the quide takes your
pictures	as you climb. Very scenic. There is also a trip
to one ofthe plantations	nearby. Very pretty. It is up on a
hill overlooking	the Spanish Main. Be prepared!	Jamacia	is
a very poor country. The people	however	are extremely
friendly	and polite. Ghanja is everywhere. My wife and	I
joke that it is the land	of the talking bushes.	"Hey Mon,
       best ghanja here."

My wife and I lead very hectic lives and	we both	have active
careers,	so our idea of a vacation is to	go somewhere and do
nothing,	but be awaited on or left alone as we please.
Couples is like that. Dinner is	more formal then most
places.	Generally a jacket was suggested. The Jamacians
are' still quite	formal in their	service. I liked this	and
       found it	refreshing.

The food is vey	good. Lots of fresh fruits, and good wine.
We were there for New Years, and	they served Verve Cliquot
       20/bottle. Good	taste!

Don't know what else I can say.	The ride from the airport
to Ocho Rios is something else.	If you fly to Montigo bay
the ride	is 80 miles over narrow	roads.	You can	fly to Ocho
Rios I think . Coulpes has a bus that runs to Montigo Bay.
       Fun.

On your return, you will	really appreciate the expression
"Soon Come". Bring back	Jamician Blue Mountain coffee.
       About $7-8/lb. $30 /lb here in the states. $7 at Zabar's in
New York. Also get Jamician dark	rum. Great for	sipping	.
Appleby is the name I think but I am not	sure.

       Hope you	have fun.
