[comp.os.msdos.programmer] TCXL & You

I too am unhappy with TCXL 5.5. I downloaded it because I was impressed
with CXL 2.x and I tought it would make my next program a lot simpler.
TO begin with the UnPacking is too complex. You unpack one self
extracting LHArc only to find a batch file that unpacks several others. I
detest LHArc, and self extracting packages. Not to mention compressed
files in compressed files.
After it expands it all the way it wants too you left with a lot of
junk. They took the 6 or so headers and divided them into 24. I personally
was tempted to copy them all into one. I looked at them and most had more
space taken up with that large comment block with there junk on it than code.
The Documentation was horrid too. I did not like the format, and several
other thing prevously mentioned on the net.
I ran the demo program. With direct writes it was fine. I tried BIOS next
so I could see the speed difference. A lot of the text came out as garbage
which should not be. Now what impression do you get from a package
who's demo does not even work?
Does anyone know what the rights are on CXL 2.x now? Did that become PD?
Was it osold with everything else? If it's PD now I'll use it, as it's a
much cleaner, nicer package.
