[net.travel] A short reply to Victor Lee.

First net.folks excuse this letter but for the life of me I can't
get thru to Vic any other way. Sorry.

 Hi Vic,
Thanks for sending me the info.

My wife and I are going to be staying at the Conrad Hilton. How is the
neighborhood in that part of town.
 Should we:
 a) Don't worry about a thing, good part of town.
 b) OK part of town, but keep our eyes open for trouble ?
 c) Take along a bodyguard with a loaded Uzi ?
 d) Invite the Chicago police dept SWAT team to be our dinner guests ?

Seeing as we are only staying a few days we will be without a car.
Can we get around on the public transportation?

The resturants you mentioned sound great. I would like to try Binyans
and it sounds like Embers is more to my wifes likings.

By the way Abercrombie and Fitch opened a store in one of our local
shopping centers. Nice place to spend big zorkmids.

Last minute request. I have been getting diversified opinions on the Sears tower
vs. John Hancock. Which do you prefer for sight seeing ?

If you happen to think of anything else that sounds interesting please
 let me know.

 Thanks again,

 Dave Wargo

p.s. All that I know about rush street is that it has a good deal of night
clubs on it.

p.p.s. could you please send me your net.address and work address again
please. Thanks.

Can anyone give Dave a hand with this? I don't know Chicago hotels well
enough to answer this one. My advice was to stay off of the corner of
Cicero and Chicago Avenues.

Thanks,

p.s. Dave mentioned that Abercrombie and Fitch have a store in San Diego.
Are there any others? I really miss their old store in the loop.

This is actually for Dave:

I tried replying to you with lots of interesting information, but
all four of my letters came back to me. Could you send me your
USPS address and I'll try that instead?

The Conrad Hilton is downtown in the Loop, a couple of blocks south of
the Art Institute. It is pretty safe, but you should not go wandering
more than a few blocks away south or west after dark. The Hilton is
two blocks from the el stop to the north side, one block from the el
to Oak Park, five or six blocks from various north suburban trains,
and right across the street from buses going up Michigan Avenue.
