[comp.os.msdos.programmer] C Compiler Help needed

CTuna@cup.portal.com (Image - BBS) (03/03/91)

Hokay, figgered this was as good a place as any to ask this:

I am going to be developing in C for the PC compats, and want to know
the pros and cons of any C compilers out there. I am kinda leaning
towards Microsoft C, but want some suggestions and input from anyone who
might be familiar with C and compilers for the IBM. Thanks in advance!

A long summary of various compilers can be ftp'd from
math.princeton.edu:pub/rjc/csip as the file compilers.Z. See the
Frequently Asked Questions file for comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc for
instructions on email access to these archives.

I personally like Turbo C++ because of its ease of setup, its versatility
and an awesome standalone debugger (Turbo Debug). I also like the fact
that I can mix C and C++ as I see fit. The new Borland C++ is supposed to
allow Windows development without an SDK. I have had problems with compiler
limitations of MSC 5.1 (ran into the end of the symbol table limit) that
Turbo C compiled without complaint. I have also found the Borland Integrated
Development Environment to be VASTLY superior to the MS Programmer's
Workbench in terms of access to compiler options and executing third party
programs from within the environment.

I looked in comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc on this machine, but could not find
the info in the FAQ.

Can someone please send me (by email) the summary referred to? Please?
