I've been in Hawaii on New Years. Waikiki is crazy. In hawaii there are 2 days when it is legal to use fireworks. New years' in one! The locals go crazy with them. We were walking through Waikiki at night, and had to dodge the firecrackers, one person with me had one land on his foot, it exploded and burnt him and his clothes. By midnight then street is already a solid sea of red firecracker paper! The shows on New Years are ok, usually Jim Nabors, Rich Little, etc. But alot of the good shows are on Maui, where it is alot less hectic. Like I said I've to Hawaii several times over the 'X-max' vacation time. And i try desparately to stay AWAY from Waikiki. Any other questions???

I have been in Maui on New Years eve and it was a very nice time. Fireworks, dinner, dancing, etc. at the hotel.

For all practical purposes, fireworks in Honolulu were outlawed as of late last year. Bob Cunningham ARPA: cunningh@nosc Honolulu, Hawaii UUCP: {ihnp4|vortex|dual}!islenet!bob
