I posted a brief message about receiving the BC Help Compiler. Sorry I opened my mouth too soon, courtesy of Borland International B-(. I only received the HC book. (It was packaged separately from the rest of the docs.) I couldn't find the Help Compiler among the 11 disks shipped. I spent the weekend playing with the package with my wife yelling at me in the background. I must say I'm impressed. The protected mode version is great. The IDE was pretty fast ( < 2 min.) compiling the window example program. I recalled previous posting regarding on BCXs' speed around 20 min(??) compiling the win eg prg. Abundance of memory could be the helping hand in my case (4 Megs EMS, and 4 Megs Cache.) It compiled all of my previous programs (not that many) with the exception of one. (The code from the book ~Programming Graphics w/ TC++.) The docs are basically a rehash of TC++. Again I apologize for any anxiety I might have caused you. If you know more about the Help Compiler, please let me know. I also received my Actor package today and may be I can do a brief comparison if there're enough interests. I posted about 10 days ago that I had contacted Borland and they said they would ship the Help Compiler, but it would be 3-4 weeks. They lied, it actually took 8 days. I received the help compiler last Friday, and they also threw in a second disk with a new and improved TDW module that fixed some bugs. It came with yet another book (#10 by my count) and the Petzold discount coupon. I haven't had a chance to look at it yet, but at least I have it.

I received my help compiler and book coupon by UPS shipment last Friday (4/12/91). Also included were updates to the windows debugger and the Whitewater Resources Toolkit. -- kpennick@atc.boeing.com The opinions expressed above are my own and in no way reflect the official views of The Boeing Company.
