We will maintain a list of: 1) each of our products that is available via FTP 2) the site or sites from which it is FTPable and 3) the version (bytes, date, etc.) we currently distribute on diskette. I suspect that posting this repeatedly would violate net rules about advertising but it will be available on our BBS and to anyone who asks. Obviously we aren't doing this because we're vindictive but rather because we're concerned that our distribution of FTPable material via diskette rather than via wire could be misunderstood. People with "free" FTP access should remember that just because no money is taken from their personal pockets to pay for the service doesn't mean that someone somewhere hasn't paid for it. In fact, if you've ever had to set up an FTP access or run an FTP archive site you'll quickly discover that there are a number of costs involved. If you are fortunate enough to have found somebody to cover these costs for you then count your blessings. Many people are not so fortunate nor can they afford out of their own pocket to pay for these "free" services. They are quite happy to pay a small amount to be able to gain access to the code that the more fortunate think they get for free. The Austin Code Works tries to provide these people with access to this code when it is C source code. As always, comments - positive and negative - are solicited, appreciated, and welcome.
