[net.travel] Travel to Mainland China

eugene@ames.UUCP (Eugene Miya) (01/10/85)

I would appreciate any advice on visiting China. I was just invited as
part of an exchange of scientists to Peking and three other cities.
All of your other friends who have visited have either done so
unofficially or are glaciologists who never really spent much time
in the big cities.

I am thinking about bringing a machine with me: either a GRiD Compass or
a Mac. What are they running 120 or 220v?

I have heard to always carry a tiny bit of food and TP. Everything closes
down at night. Dare I drink anything but glacial streams? [where am I
going to find one of these in a city? :-) ]

If Brian Reid is reading this: one of the topics I have been asked to speak
about is the Usenet, not that I can say much.
