We have a bunch of code that runs on DOS and was written in Microsoft BASIC 7.1 PDS. We would like the code to run under UNIX on a Workstation (DEC,HP,SUN,RS/6000?), and we are considering translating the BASIC to C. First, Should we even think about keeping it in BASIC and running it on UNIX? If we should go to C, is anyone familiar with the translator products which take BASIC code and produce C code? Do they require much manual intervention? Do they produce readable/maintainable code? Is the code efficient? Is code written for the above UNIX systems portable to PC versions of UNIX? Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. Please reply to me directly. Thanks, Leo Lanzillo.
