[comp.os.msdos.programmer] Editor for "wide" files

dte@equinox.unr.edu (Dana Edberg) (06/20/91)

I'm not sure if this is the correct newsgroup to ask...
but I'm looking for a fairly easy-to-use editor that is
capable of working with 600+ column files. I am editing
large data files on my 386-based PC running DOS version
4.01 and I need an editor that will make this task a little
easier.

Any suggestions?

Qedit is a PD editor that is easy to use and handles > 80 column widths.
I don't know about 600, though.

511 columns, last time I checked. It isn't PD, either--it's shareware,
$50 or so registration (it's been a while since I registered it).

I use Norton Editor version 1.3b (1986) to edit lines up to 64K in length.
Actually it is something like 65534 chars in length.
