I have a Gateway 386/33 running msdos 5.0. I have noticed that the request for a volume label which occurs after a format does not actually get written to a diskette (although no indication of that is given). Upon attempting to use label.exe I get the response "Invalid Drive Specification". I get this regardless of syntax, i.e. just typing LABEL by itself will produce this response, as well as any of the manual's additional syntax instructions. Norton's VOLABEL, however works. Does anyone else have this experience, or is this specific to my PC? Any explanation? Forrest Gehrke feg@dodger.att.com
