[comp.os.msdos.programmer] VR for the PC

sorrow@oak.circa.ufl.edu (06/29/91)

Due to the large amount of mail I have received pertaining to the glasses
I have been using and what not, I have decided to post about the project.

Here is the ultimate description of my little VR game for the PC.

The concept is simple: allow simple peripherals and what not to be
hooked up to a FAST pc. Use these to make a unique type of game. Have two
PCs hooked up for whatever.

The peripherals in question are: PowerGlove, joystick (PC), LaserScope, and
"chopper" type 3d glasses. The phases in the project are this:

1. Write 3d routines that are very fast (almost done).
2. Wire up and correctly use the "chopper" glasses (finished).
3. Get schematics and interface PowerGlove (soon).
4. "" for the LaserScope (not as soon).
5. "" for the joystick (not as soon).
6. Write serial communications packet drivers capable of handling up to 19,200
baud between two PCs via null modem cable.
7. Assemble pertinent parts/libraries into a game.

Libraries:

3dGRAPH.LIB
GLOVE.LIB
SCOPE.LIB
JOYSTICK.LIB
SERIALIO.LIB

This will all be done using Borland C++ and TASM.

I will post the information pertaining to the PowerGlove as soon as possible.
I am also looking into the possibility of applicatiosn of the LaserScope as
an assistance to completely disabled individuals for mouse based applications.

I will post other information as it is refined.
