With the following combinations Motif 1.0a application X11R3 or R4 server with -bc option twm from the X11R4 tape Motif 1.0a application OpenWindows 1.0.1 pulldown menus in a menubar sometimes appear in the wrong place on the screen (ie. not at the menubar), most typically in the top left corner of the screen. This happens with the OSF demo applications, so I'm fairly certain that this is either a Motif bug or an ICCCM mismatch, in which case it might be fixed in Motif 1.1. Any ideas / help / workarounds would be appreciated. Even confirmation that the behavior we're seeing is being seen elsewhere would be nice. I have seen this happen when the pulldown is managed as well as the cascade button, but I don't know why that would happen in the demo apps.
