[comp.windows.x.motif] Problem with Mwm resource settings in .Xdefaults file

I am a novice Motif programmer.  I am developing a Motif (1.0) application on
SCO Unix (OpenDesktop).  My application runs fine until I set either of
the following Mwm resouces in my .Xdefaults - Mwm*background,
Mwm*activeBackground, Mwm*menu*background.

I recieve the following error messages when I run my application with
the above Mwm resources set in my .Xdefaults file.

X Error:  BadValues, integer parameter out of range for operation
  Request Major code 91 ()
  Request Minor code
  ResourceID 0x2f
  Error Serial #8
  Current Serial #8

When I remove those Mwm resources in my .Xdefaults file, my application
runs find again.  Has anyone encounter similar problem with their
application?  Please email any response to me.
