I am amused to note the copyright on the certification checklist; while the instructions give explicit permission to copy the checklist during the checking process, no permission is granted to copy prior to that blessed event. This makes the checklist useless in the context of the design and implementation phases, and makes it rather unlikely that the application will pass. It seems that utility would be served by adding permission to copy the checklist to the copyright supplement with the same sort of provisos as used for the Style Guide and Environment Specification, that is, that they may not be changed in any way except translation. Since the certification process is intended for non-licensees as well, perhaps another permission method (such as printing blanket permission to copy without modification into the front matter) is more appropriate. Failing that, how do I go about getting permission to copy this document for use during design and implementation, or would you prefer to send me enough copies for each of our people to have one?
