[comp.windows.x.motif] shellUnitType and unitType attributes

larry@ezx.sunrise.com (Larry Rogers) (09/27/90)

I am attempting to use the unitType and shellUnitType resources so that all
of my coordinates are in 1000TH_INCHES instead of pixels. Two things have
been discovered doing this.

   1. A converted called XmCvtStringToUnitType exists in ResConvert.c
but is never installed by anyone or called by anyone. Am I supposed
to install it? That's what I did and it works. Why is this con-
verter not installed automatically by Motif when _XmCvtStringTo-
       ShellUnitType is?

   2. When offset resources are set in forms, they are not converted to
the correct unit type. They are always interpreted as pixels. Yet
all other resources are set in the specified unit type including
width, height and x and y. What's the deal here? Is this inconsis-
tent or is there another resource I am suppoed to set. If it is
inconsistent, would it be considered a bug?

Thank you in advance for any answers.
