Am considering heading towards Saint Pierre,Miquelon as part
of a summer jaunt. If anyone has visited there, can you pass
on info like, is it fun, is it interesting? Hassles? Books
about? Thanks very much.

I visited St. Pierre about 2 years ago in June while I was visiting
Newfoundland. I found St. Pierre interesting but my three day visit
was definitely too long. It was interesting to see how the people
lived in a small, French fishing village, far from civilization,
but still in North America.

What was neet was that, between the architecture, autos,
etc., it looked half French and Half American. Imagine Citroen 2CV's
buzzing around with Ford Pickup's.

When I was there, it was a little cold for swimming. We did a little
hiking, though. Getting there was a two hour boat ride on which most
people got sick. Customs was no problem.

If I were to do it over again, I would visit St. Pierre only for the
novelty of it, perhaps. There were lots of interesting places on
Newfoundland I didn't get a chance to explore.

BTW, their time is 1/2 hour before (after?) Newfoundland's ???

Viel Spass!!!
