Hi,

I know that there are two legal ways to get Motif running on Sun.

1. Get Motif sources from OSF and compile them on your Sun.
   - $1,000.00 for source. Do it yourself style.

2. Get Motif binaries already compiled for you from VAR. For example,
Quest Systems offers "Quest OSF/Motif" as their product.
   - $500.00 ~ $1,000.00 with suppport.

   Quest Systems Corporation
   3333 Bowers Avenue, Suite 130,
   Santa Clara, CA95054
   (408) 496-1900

I don't have my opinion about which is better. I have had a contact
with Quest, but I didn't buy their Motif because we were not ready.
I believe that there are also other venders who can supply Motif for
Sun users. This is just for your information.

We sell Motif 1.1 for Suns. Our package is a full development system that has
shared Xm and Mrm libraries. We ship binaries for Sun-3, Sun-4 (SPARC), and
Sun-386i. SunOS versions required are 4.0.3, except for Sun-386i which is 4.0.2.

[ Yes the Sun-4 version used to be SunOS 4.1 only. I got rid of that problem,
so now it runs on OS 4.0 also... ]

We sell for $500 (tape + right to use on 1 CPU). $125 per additional CPU.

Please feel free to contact my colleage Alain Vermeiren (AV@SUNBIM.BE) or me
for more info.

A company in the UK called XTech generates a version of Motif for Sun
Workstations. Our company, Aurora Technologies, is their U.S. distributor.
For more information, call us at (617) 577-1288, and ask for Dan.

(Sorry for the ad, but they did ask, and I lost the original poster's mailing
address.)

We at O'Reilly & Associates got our Motif from Sunbim -- they are very
helpful and have been extremely supportive at all times. I highly
recommend using them because after all, it's not just getting the
product that's important, it's the support you get afterwards :-)

Thanx, danny!
