[comp.windows.x.motif] Scrolling a window from a program

eddy@pcad.UUCP (Eduardo Juncosa) (11/13/90)

I have a small problem with making a scrolled window scroll as the result of a
program action (as opposed to the user using the scrollbar).

I am setting the position of the scrollbar (with XmScrollBarSetValues) and the
scrollbar changes to look like I want it to, but this does not cause the "work"
window to change. Since the coordinates of the "work" window were not being
reset (they are for manual scrolls), I also tried resetting the coordinates of
the "work" window, but it made no difference.

I did notice that after I have changed the scrollbar, it I manually touch it,
(drag it, click on it) the "work" window promptly scrolls to the right place.
I just want this to happen automatically, as soon as I change the scrollbar.

If it matters, I have tried this both on an IBM/6000 and a SparcStation running
X11R4, with similar resutls on both.

Please e-mail if there is an incredibly obvious solution that will embarass me
if it is posted. Otherwise, post or e-mail.

Thanks,
