nazgul@alfalfa.com (Kee Hinckley) (01/08/91)
Due to circumstances beyond our control (and that of our lawyer) we've been forced to change the name of our company from Alphalpha to Alfalfa. Alpha Software felt we infringed on their name. We fully expect the organic sprout industry to come after us next. As a result, the domain address has had to change as well. From now on, any mail previously being sent to/through here should use the address: alfalfa.com or ...uunet!alfalfa The old names will continue to work for several months at the least, and in fact the UUCP name of our machine will stay "alphalpha", however the new map entry publishes a DIRECT connection to "alfalfa" so that UUCP addresses are handled correctly. We apologize for the inconvenience - it certainly wasn't on our list of things we wanted to do. However if you could check any aliases, mailing lists, or ingrained typing habits; and convert them to using the new address we would greatly appreciate it. In summary: UUCP Neighbors: A new map update has been sent out, in the meantime if you could update your database (if you have one) to indicate that we talk to a site called alfalfa (or else create an alias to map alfalfa to alphalpha - your choice) we'd appreciate it. As I said above, our UUCP name will remain alphalpha unless it ends up causing us more trouble than it's worth. Mailing List Admins: Please change any occurance of "alphalpha" to "alfalfa" in any mailing lists or aliases. Others: Please change any aliases and retrain your fingers to use "alfalfa" instead of "alphalpha". Many thanks, and our apologies for the trouble. Sincerely, Kee Hinckley Alfalfa Software, Inc.
