We just installed Motif 1.1 from ICS on our Sun-4s. I noticed that /usr/lib/X11/app-defaults/Mwm contained a bunch of settings for monochrome systems. The results looked terrible on our color Suns, so I commented them out. I also noticed that in the Motif 1.1 Programmer's Reference, on page 1-13, it states, "The default is chosen based on the visual type of the screen."
