[net.travel] Topless Beaches

forrest@ucsbcsl.UUCP ( ) (04/26/85)

Last summer I went to Europe and spend lots of time in Southern France and
Scandinavia. At all the beaches, and for that matter swimming pools,
toplessness was the norm. (I've often wondered why feminists don't make
a bigger deal about this obvious area of discrimination here in the USA.)
Anyway, I wonder which other areas in the world also accept toplessness
the way it is accepted in Europe.

Topless bathing does not seem to be commonly accepted in any South American
countries, not even Brasil, where one finds on the beaches the most remarkable
(ahem) bathing suits (not to mention rather remarkable occupants of those suits)
that I have yet to see in my life. A wonderful nation, Brasil.
