[comp.windows.x.motif] Translations Ignored for Application under Mwm

jarosen@lookout (Jim A. Rosenberg) (06/21/91)

I am having troubles with a set of translations I have written for the
R4 / Motif 1.1 version of xterm. The problems look like resource manager /
translation manager problems to me, and one of the other people here
told me he has had very similiar problems. He has also seen reports
in this group of the same kinds of problems caused by Motif 1.1.

I have written translations for approx. 30 keys for xterm. The
translations are stored in a resource file for the application in my
home directory. When xterm is invoked, a set of the keys often are not
translated. This error happens rather randomly in response to changes
to the translations, displaying on one machine while running on another,
and running xterm with different option flags. The keys that
get ignored are:
Escape, F1, F4, F7, F10, Insert, End, Home, End, PageUp
	PageDown, LeftArrow, RightArrow, UpArrow, DownArrow
on a PC/AT style keyboard.

I'm wondering whether anyone else has had problems for this set of keys.
And especially, has anyone seen this problem occurring rather randomly
between invocations of the same application.

E-mail repies would be much better. I will summarize for the net.
