[net.travel] U.S. in late October

     I'm 20 years old and *very* inexperienced at travelling.  I
  would like to take about two weeks off on my 21st birthday
  (October 24).  I'd like to go somewhere in the U.S. (or U.S.
  territory).

     Can anyone suggest a good place to go in October/November
  with warm weather and friendly natives?  I don't want anything
  that's really tourist-oriented (there are plenty of fancy
  hotels and souvenir shops right here in LA).

     I'm new to this newsgroup, so I don't know whether the
