[net.travel] Honeymoon suggestions wanted

cjsgro@watrose.UUCP (cjsgro) (03/19/85)

My fiancee and I are in the early stages of selecting a location for
our honeymoon. Quite frankly, we're kind of stumped. We're looking
at a time period around August or September of 1986. We definitely want
to avoid 'tourist traps', so places like Barbados & the Bahamas are out.
She would prefer somewhere near the ocean (she's originally from California
and misses it incredibly) and feels very strongly about avoiding cold
and rain. She says that she would really prefer somewhere "tropical".
Cost is not really a factor, although I would like to keep it 'within
reason' (whatever that means :-)).

Well, within these parameters, does anyone have any suggestions? You
don't have to be speaking from experience; just know something about
what you're talking about. She's thought of getting a trailer or a tent
on a beach on one of the less popular islands of Hawaii. Does anyone
know more details on this? In any case, all suggetions will be
welcomed.

You could try the Island of Tobago which is part of the state of
Trinidad and Tobago. My parents were there a couple of years ago
and compared to Florida,Bremuda and Barbados the thing they most
observed was the lack of commercialism. Of course there were still
the beach front resorts and the like but the area wasn't all dedicated
to tourism. All in all they were impressed with the slow laid back
sort of atmosphere generated by the people. And then again this is
only my second hand opinion. Congratulations and best wishes in the future.
