This is posting is an exercise in extremely wishful thinking. In fact I can hardly keep a straight face. A manager at my company came to me and asked me if there was an Objective-C to C++ translator. As StepStone is rumored to be about to go belly-up, this is a product that I could imagine would have a lot of promise. But wait, there's still more -- he wants it to work for both MVS and OS/2. Technical Notes: Actually, this sounds like a monster project but I'd do it if I hadn't already serve as a Master's student. IMHO, I think Objective-C is a better language (yea Brad Cox!), but it has yet to catch on and there are no promises for when gcc 2.0, the Three-in-One compiler will be released. ObjC -> C++ should be easier than C++ -> ObjC, since Objective-C is much simpler and cleaner than C++. If someone wants to give me a fellowship, I'd start with the NeXT (gnu-based) Objective-C compiler and carry on from there. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- |Favorite Fruit-Man origin: A.
