Call For Freebee Databases I'm collecting information on all kinds of on-line databases that people can use without cost. My plan is to publish this database of freebee databases (hereinafter "Freebee Metabase") on line in some appropriate place(s) as soon as I have enough entries for it to be meaningful. The Freebee Metabase will be updated monthly (or more often, if necessary). Please contribute to the Freebee Metabase by sending me mail with the following information: 1. Name of the database. 2. Description of the database, the more detailed the better. 3. Address of the database's computer. 4. How to get access (that is, whether the database is accessible through FTP or TELNET or via a listserver, and what the procedures are). 5. Whether you can get to the database via a guest account, thus making accessibility especially easy (and if not, how to get an account). 6. Anything else you think is important (including in what other newsgroups you think this notice should be posted). In return, (if you want) I'll put your name on a subscription list and send you updates as they're ready, saving you the trouble of checking around for them. Questions and comments welcomed. Many thanks! Scot Kamins --- Try also... uunet!hoptoad!kumr!kamins USNail: Scot Kamins / 671 28th Street / San Francisco CA 94131 PaBell: +1 415 282 8831

Those of you with Internet access might want to start with the list of Internet-Accessible Library Catalogs & Databases available for anonymous FTP from UMD5.UMD.EDU in the info-lib directory. A new edition just appeared last week (after about 4 months...) Nearly everything listed is available at no charge.
