[net.travel] travel in Europe

tadl@crystal.ARPA (06/27/84)

My (soon to be) wife and I are planning a honeymoon in Europe
in September. We plan to spend about 3 weeks, depending when
our flights are.

Our Itinerary looks something like this:

	1) fly into Amsterdam
	2)	Paris
	3)	Nice
	4)	Rome
	5)	Capri
	6)	Florence
	7)	Venice
	8)	Munich? -- if time permits
	9)	fly out of Amsterdam

Since neither of us have been to Europe before we would
welcome any information on hotels, restaurants, sites and/or
cities that we should see or miss.

thanks in advance

I'm a little courious. With the U.S. State Department's warning about
travel thru the airport in Athens, Greece, have any of the net users
changed or canceled their travel plans in light of the TWA hijacking?

Further, do any of the european netters worry when traveling to the
airports, or by air about the possibility of a terrorist takeover ?

Yes, I am going to Italy and Greece in Sept. I was going
to land in Athens and leave from Milan, but now I'm landing and leaving
from Milan. I will still go to Greece, but I will get there by train/boat
from Italy. I don't really believe that anything would happen to me if I
flew into Athens, but I figure that I'm better safe than sorry. Besides,
It's only a minor rearrangement of my trip at this point.

As long as I'm on the subject, does anyone have suggestions on
what to do, where to go, and/or what books to read on the subject? My
interests, and reasons for going, include black and white photography,
food, art, relaxing in beautiful places, and meeting interesting and/or
friendly people. I'm sure that this subject has been discussed about a
hundred times here, so please respond via e-mail and I will summerize
in a couple of weeks (really, I promise).
