I will be in Houston with my family for about 5 days. Is there
anyone who could recommend what to see while out there?

Be sure to check out Galveston Island. It's about 1 hour south of
Houston. It has beaches, and many resterants. I highly recomend the
"Tour Train" that leaves from the Visitor's Center on Seawall Av.,
next to the Galvez Hotel. It's a very interesting tour of the island's
history, and tourist attractions.

Houston is "down" there. LA is "out" there.

Naturally you will be expected to pay homage at the San Jacinto
Battlefield (that's where they yelled "Remember the Alamo!"). And
don't forget NASA. *Texas Monthly* has listings of restaurants,
theaters, museums, sports, etc. The Piney Woods and Big Thicket
areas to the north are beautiful, as is the Gulf coast.

Too bad you aren't visiting San Antonio and Austin, the Two Best
Cities in Texas.
