[misc.forsale.computers] WICAT SYSTEM 3220

gsarff@sarek.UUCP (Gary Sarff) (09/16/90)

I have a WICAT Systems Model 3220 computer for sale.
  Specs:
     1 CPU board - Motorola 68020, 68881 Math Coprocessor,
                 68851 Memory Management Unit
     2 4 Megabyte Ram boards
1 SMD controller, with an onboard controller for
an Alloy DEI 1/4" cartridge tape.
1 CIPHER tape controller board, 9 track 1/2" tape controller
1 Multibus 3-Com Ethernet board in a multibus adapter card.
2 Intelligent Communications boards, each contains 16 serial ports
        and 1 parallel port.

In addition there are two serial ports on the CPU board, for a total of
34 serial and two parallel ports.

The system is currently configured with two SMD drives, an 80 Megabyte
     and a 160 Megabyte.

The system has two tape drives
        1 CIPHER brand 9 track reel-to-reel 1/2" tape drive.
1 Alloy DEI 1/4" cartridge tape drive.

 Software
The system is currently running WICAT's WMCS operating system, which is
a sort of mix of Unix and VAX VMS. It has features from both. It is a true
preemptive multi-user multi-tasking system. The OS features KSAM (Keyed
Sequential Access Method, B+ tree) files as an integral feature, batch and
print queues, a shell with an interpreted shell language, No limit on the
number of processes, number of open files and a transparent networking
method that lets the operating system service calls operate as easily on a
remote machine as they do on the local. So that a process can create other
processes, send interprocess-mail, use pipes, files, get status of things
remotely or locally with the same methods. The OS has Logical Names (or
environment variables in Unix terms) and much more. Since I work at WICAT
and am the Developer for the this OS I know all about its features. I can
also get UNIX System V.2 for this machine if desired. The WMCS OS is the most
recent, and includes compilers for C, Pascal, and Fortran 77. The UNIX
includes C and Fortran 77 compilers. The system is my home machine currently
running WMCS 8.3.5 and usenet/mail software that I ported and wrote (I am
using it to post this message.)

Asking $3000.00 Negotiable.
