FOR SALE
DEC VAXstation 2000/GPX Workstation (grayscale)
14MB RAM
320MB disk storage (2 * RD54 drives, one internal, one external)
95MB streaming tape drive (TK50, external)
8 bit-plane graphics co-processor
19" monitor (1024 X 864, VR260)
keyboard (LK201) and mouse (VSXXX-AA)
thin or thick-wire Ethernet (switch selectable)
2 async ports for modem, printer, or additional terminals
This machine is suitable for Ultrix or VMS. It has a VUPS rating of 1, so
it has the processing power of a 11/780. For comparison, current VAXstations
have speed ratings from 2.5 to 3.8, but you'll pay a premium for them. It
runs X11 just fine.
This workstation has a footprint of about 12" X 14" and consists of three
boxes - a system box with one disk drive, an expansion box with a second
disk drive, and a third expansion box with the tape drive. They stack, so
the overall effect is that of a squat tower system. Each box is about
five inches tall. Power draw is modest (no more than a loaded PC).
The brokers are quoting about $8500 for this configuration, but I think
they're full of it. I would like a reasonable offer, and instead of setting
a price I'd like to take bids.
Thank you.
