A few (probably at least six) of my friends and I would like to go to the state of Hawaii for a week sometime next March. None of us has ever been there before, but from what we've heard so far we've pretty much decided to stay on Maui, with possible day trips to other islands. We need a lot of advice. In particular, I'd really appreciate answers to the following questions: Is it better to go on a package deal that includes airfare and accomodations rather than arranging them ourselves separately? If so, which package do you recommend? How big a group would we need to be to qualify for group rates? How soon do we need to make our reservations? What are the advantages/disadvantages to staying in a condo rather than a hotel? Which hotels/condos would you recommend for a group of people who are looking for reasonably nice (preferably with a view of the ocean) but not-too-expensive rooms? Which beaches are nicest to vegetate on? What is there to do/see in Hawaii that can't be done/seen on the mainland? Where should we eat? What sort of nightlife is there on Maui? We may be willing to spend some of the money we've saved on accomodations here... What other islands would you recommend for day trips? How far in advance do we need to schedule that sort of thing? Please mail responses to me; I'll send a summary to anyone who asks for one. -- Laura Pearlman ...{decvax,hplabs,ihnp4,ucbvax}!trwrb!ljp
