[net.travel] West Africa

I am not speaking from personal experience, though what I would
investigate in the way of inexpensive airfare to West Africa is
going via Europe (Paris might be a good choice). Air fares to Africa
are really exorbitantly expensive; I should think that it is cheaper
to go to Europe first, and then carry on to Africa. I know that Air
France has quite good fares to a lot of French Africa (largely West
Africa); going straight from JFK to Lagos will certainly cost an arm
and a leg.
Let us know what you discover!

Air Egypt is sure to have many cheap flights to Africa since most of it's
flights are quite reasonable. They offer a lot of good deals out of Europe
and there are still some good deals on U.S.-Europe flights available from
airlines like Capitol or TransAmerica. Happy flying.

I will be traveling to West Africa this November
visiting, at minimum, Senegal & Mali, with visits to
"nearby" countries such as Burkina-Faso, Togo, and
the Ivory Coast very likely.
I will be visiting friends so I'm not greatly concerned
with what to do or how to get by (although suggestions
will be welcomed.) I do, however, need to get shots and visas
soon and I'm having some difficulty getting information
on what I need (Fodor does not publish a guide to West Africa.)

Can anyone help me with this type of information or even where
to go to get it? Pointers to NYC or NJ (unlikely) would be
especially valuable.
                            Thanks,
                             Warren Moe
