About Grade II Braille UNIX programs... I wrote such a thing for a Boston company specializing in computer aids for the handicapped. I think their prices are reasonable. The program is written in C and has a simple companion nroff macro package that can format the Braille on a Braille embosser. One can specify either Grade I or Grade II Braille. The Grade II quality is quite good, having extensive knowledge of contraction rules and hyphenation conventions. Real Grade II translation is definitely non-trivial, especially when combined with formatting. The output is designed to drive a number of Braille embossers, but could be tailored output devices (what else is there ?). I have ported the translator to other OS's and CPU's, as well. The company who is marketing it (broff and bt) is: ARTS Computer Boston, MA 617-482-8248 Or you can mail me for details. Hope this helps. Cheers, Dan Ts'o ...cmcl2!rna!dan
