I am leaving on Nov 12 for a honeymoon in Fiji (2.5 days), New Zealand (17 days)
and Australia (3 days). We have been told by a travel agent that the only Fiji
hotels available run >$100/night, and the only cruises go for a minimum of 3
days. I have the feeling that these are the ones with the highest commissions
for the agent. Does anyone in NETLAND know of any relatively inexpensive (clean,but not fancy) hotels in Nadi, Fiji? Also, are there any 1/2 to 1 day boat
trips to the other islands? We are going to stay with relatives on the North
Island, and friends on the South Island in New Zealand. Has anyone had any
experience with either flying between the two (from around Napier, NI), or
driving down to the coast and taking the ferry between the two. Also, are there any car rental companies that are particularly good or bad?
I would appreciate any information on the subject. Also we are thinking of
buying a portable VCR/camera to take along. Has any one out there had any
experience traveling with one? (Are they more of a pain/worry than they
are worth?) Please post any other travel information that might be of interest
to the net.
