A good general introduction for the novice to Unix (rather than C language) is, Introducing the Unix System By Henry McGilton Rachel Morgan Published by McGraw-Hill ISBN #0-07-045001-3 It contains a section on shell programming (Bourne) and a small section on C shell. There's not much on C programming...it references Kernighan and Ritchie. jsm
