[net.travel] Film developing

boren@randvax.UUCP (Pat Boren) (10/29/85)

Having just returned from a wonderful trip to Europe, I
heartily recommend the use of Fuji film and prepaid mailers
for developing.

Fuji film, whether for slides or prints, gives fantastic color --
sharp and vivid (unlike some of the other film that friends used
on the same trip).

We bought the film here with mailers from both Fuji lab and Fox
Photo. I recommend mailers for several reasons -- a) you mail
them out as you use them, so you have fewer rolls to worry about
and are less likely to lose them, b) you don't mix up used and
unused film, c) the developed film gets home before you do, and
d) it's paid in advance. Oh, none of our film was lost in the
mail, which for 3 of us was at least 20 rolls.

If you buy film in Europe, note that the Fuji film includes a
mailer with it (it'll be processed in Vienna, Munich, London,
etc.). For slides, the film is developed but left in strips --
you have to mount them yourself (which is pretty easy with the
Fuji plastic mounts). I don't remember if prints are printed
or if they give you the developed negatives.

Anyway, use Fuji for the best color ever -- you won't be
disappointed with your postcard-quality photos!
