[net.travel] Travel to Greece, Turkey

dudek@utai.UUCP (Gregory Dudek) (10/25/85)

I plan head to Greece for my Honeymoon in mid-November, with a
possible side-trip to Turkey while I'm there.
Does anybody have information about the weather in Greece, esp.
Crete around that time of year? Is it swimmable?
Also, I would welcome suggestions on how to travel to Turkey
and where I should try to arrive. We were planning to take a ferry
there & spend just a couple of days somewhere around Izmir.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The weather at this time is fairly cold(10C) in Athens and may be
a little warmer in Creete but still cold for swimming.

If you are in the mainland the best way is to fly from Athens to
Istanbul. It is a short and cheap trip. You can take the boat to
Izmir from Rodes. This can even be a daily trip.

If you need additional info send me some mail and I'll be
glad to help.

Corection: The temp. at this time in Athens is no less than
15C or 60-70F. It never gets that cold before Christmas.
