Anyone traveling across the northern half of the US & Canada should
not miss the Grand Tetons (and Yellowstone) and the Canadian Rockies
(Banff, Lake Louise, and Jasper). You should probably see the Tetons
on the way out, and the Rockies on the way back. If you went to
the Canadian Rockies on the way out, you probably wouldn't want to
continue on with the rest of your trip :-)

In the Tetons, stay at the Colter Bay cabins. Still cheap, and
beautiful. Depending upon the time of year, reserve early. Call
Colter Bay Lodge for reservations. A beautiful drive out of or into
Yellowstone is the Bear Tooth pass (NE exit).

While you're out here, see the Columbia gorge, and Mt. St. Helens.

And don't miss Expo 86 in Vancouver.
