I bought Drakkhen based on comments that I read here and in rec.games.misc. Before I purchased it, though, I upgraded my A2000 to an A3000. Well, I wanted to check out this game, so I put in the first disk and turned on my machine. A reasonably nice screen with a dragon on it appears, then some chanting music, then lightning from the dragon's eyes write out info on the authors. As soon as the last letter is written, I get a "glitch" on the screen (the colors jump and some bizarre patterns appear) and, in some cases, the music stops on one note which just keeps playing and I am locked out of my computer. Other times the machine crashes and I get a Task Held error (I think that is correct) with number like 8000 ????(cannot recall these). Well, my question is obvious, since I do NOT want to have spen $50 for a game which I cannot use. Has anyone been able to get Drakkhen to work on the A3000??? *************************************************************** Other games I have had problems loading: Barbarian (Psygnosis) Menace " Progams which work: Champions of Krynn (even on the HD). Sculpt Animate 3D version 1.216c (this is the 68020/68881 special version, but I have NO comparison times with a stock A2000. If someone with SA and a stock 2000 would like to render some of the scenes on the SA disk (especially the ones in the 1meg drawer) with version 1.216, I'd be happy to use the same settings to get a comparison). ************************************************************* BTW, everyone seems concerned with making sure that the BETA version number of the AmigaDos 2.0 which is being used is mentioned. I understand this, but HOW do I determine this?? There is NO mention of this when I use the VERSION command (nothing says "BETA version 5 or the like). Thanks, Scott Sutherland sutherla@qtp.ufl.edu I will be testing all of my software as soon as A) I find out what BETA version of the OS I have, and B) I get a response from comp. sys.amiga.tech as to how to boot with AmigaDos 1.3. I know about the "holding down the mouse buttons upon booting" technique, but the screen which appears only lets me a) enable/disable df0:, b) enable/disable WB 2.X, and c) enable/disable WORK (whatever this means). There is NO mention of 1.3 at all, and I am NOT supposed to have to use the floppy disks which came with my A3000 since it is already supposed to be on the HD (this is why, when I boot up, I only have 1.2 Meg instead of 2 Megs of RAM!!).
